Ericksonian Hypnosis Masterclass

In July 2011 Carol will be attending an Ericksonian Hypnosis Masterclass. Dr Milton Erickson was the USA psychiatrist who was probably the most influential person worldwide in the establishment of mainstream hypnotherapy practice. His unusual and highly innovative approaches were largely responsible for moving hypnosis from the stage into the consulting room. His methodologies were ‘modelled’ by Richard Bandler and John Grinder in their development of NLP.

Erickson’s fellow countryman Shaun Brookhouse has been regarded for many years as one of the world’s leading trainers in Ericksonian Hypnosis. Be warned – Shaun’s own teaching style can also be very unusual so boredom is likely to be completely off the agenda! Shaun is the recipient of numerous awards on both sides of the Atlantic for his work. He is currently principal of both The National College of Hypnotherapy and Psychotherapy and The UK Academy of Therapeutic Arts.

Hypnotherapy and Working with Cancer Patients

There are few of us whose lives have not been touched in some way by cancer. Carol is attending a course that teaches about cancer and its medical treatments as well as exploring the many ways that we, as hypnotherapists, may offer help. This includes skills and resources which include such topics as psychological impact, integration of complementary therapy and clinical governance.

Working Effectively with Substance Misusers

Local hypnotherapist meets new national standards

We have achieved a new national standard of excellence for therapy.

A Brierley Hill based hypnotherapist has become one of the first in the country to achieve a new national standard of excellence for her therapy.

Carol Weatherall has been registered by the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC), the UK regulator for complementary healthcare.

The recognition places her at the forefront of a national drive to provide a benchmark for standards and safety for the public. Practitioners registered with the CNHC meet national occupational standards and abide by a rigorous code of conduct, performance and ethics.

Carol Weatherall said: “Achieving registration is not only great news for me and my clients, but a vital step for hypnotherapy.”

“This is the time of year when many people are struggling to keep up their new year resolutions. The most popular uses for hypnotherapy are around stress and anxiety conditions, weight control and addictive behaviours such as smoking and alcohol abuse.”

Hypnotherapy is one of 11 disciplines now recognised by the CNHC. Members of the public can search the CNHC register to find practitioners in their local area. More than 40,000 searches were carried out last year.

By providing a verification of standards, the CNHC allows GPs, hospitals, private healthcare providers and insurance companies to refer patients to hypnotherapy practitioners or to make hypnotherapy more readily available in health centres, clinics, doctors’ surgeries and hospitals.
